A time may come when an Alaris user faces a necessity to change a product’s name. It is possible to do so without affecting rates and any other entities. Changing a parent product’s name is also possible and is done exactly the same way as changing the name of any other product. It can be changed in Carriers/Products in Product name field.
However, before doing so, it must be taken into account that this change may affect routing, as all the routing rules containing the product name in Inclusive/Exclusive Client/Vendor product name filters will be affected. So a new name should be added in SMS/Routing/Routing Rules before the product name itself can be changed. A new name will appear in SMS/Routing/Routing Rules once the first product with such a name is created.
If you have any Routing Contexts containing the name of the product, do not forget to rename them as well. In this case, it is also necessary to adjust Next option of the routing rules where the value Switch to context: renamed_context is selected.
Note that if you need to change product names in bulk, you can address it with Alaris Technical Support Team. Provide them with a list of products for which the names should be changed and the required product names exactly as they should be represented in the System.
A couple of words must also be said for Vendor Products with product type = HLR, as they present a special case. As the product name is initially set up in the configuration for HLR and HLR Proxy 3 modules, it should be modified by Alaris Technical Support Team from the backend (in case the Configurator app is not installed). Otherwise, HLR billing may be affected. In case you have HLR Configurator installed, please change the provider’s name yourself in Sources\Name column.
