Fetchmail Configuration with IMAP and POP3

It is possible to process emails that are received by certain mail addresses, and these emails are then loaded into interfaces, for example, rates into Rate Import and then into products. Special software installed on the servers allows configuring automatic fetching of mails from specific mailboxes. If you are interested in fetching emails from a certain mailbox to your system, provide us with the following:

  1. Email poll (e.g., imap.gmail.com);
  2. Email address which will be used for fetching emails;
  3. Password (not the one for the mailbox itself, but the one that is usually configured in the Security section);
  4. Preferred protocol (IMAP or POP3);
  5. IMAP or POP3 port.

Here is some information about the protocols:
IMAP is a protocol by which only unread e-mails are fetched. In order for a read e-mail to be processed, it should be marked as unread, and then it will be fetched by the software in the next iteration. When using IMAP, e-mails are marked as read by the software itself when the processing is finished.
POP3 is a protocol that picks up all new e-mails that arrive at the mailbox, regardless of whether they are read or unread. Using POP3, the software connects to the server only for the period of time required to download new messages. Unlike IMAP, it works only with addresses with access limited to one user.

There is a System setting Ignore emails older than N hours in /Start/Administration/System settings which defines how far in the past the fetchmail will look for unprocessed emails when importing new ones. This setting allows the system to ignore cases when old emails end up in the "Unread" folder (for IMAP protocol) or when the mail server itself has problems and does not mark old emails as processed (for POP3 protocol). You can use fractions of an hour (e.g. 0.5 will allow importing mail that is less than 30 minutes old). If the value is set to 0 or null, all mail will be processed.

If are faced with any difficulties, please submit a ticket and provide us with an email address, relevant application password (not the password for the mailbox itself, but the one that is usually configured in the Security section), and IDs of the entities/rules/tasks that are connected with the issue.
