Intermediate delivery statuses (ACCEPTD, ENROUTE, etc.)

Sometimes providers send ACCEPTD status as intermediate one and after sending it they send another delivery report (DELIVRD for example). It is absolutely normal and follows the vendor's specification (vendors may send this status or may not send). By default, ACCEPTD status will be in the EDRs, but the following delivery report will not.

This behavior is configurable. If a vendor is sending intermediate statuses (ACCEPTD, ENROUTE), and you want to ignore them and wait for the final status, SMS switch has an option in the internal configuration, which allows ignoring certain delivery statuses, so that the system will accept them (a successful deliver_sm_resp will be sent), but they won't be written in the EDRs, and no delivery report will be sent to the client. In case vendor doesn't send a final status after sending a status from the ignored statuses list, the EDR will have status SENT. To apply changes to this setting, please contact Alaris Support. By default, ENROUTE status is configured to be ignored.

Note that ignoring ACCEPTD status is a system-wide setting, so it will have an effect on all vendors.

There might be cases, when a vendor is incapable of sending a final delivery status, sending only ACCEPTD status for example, and there's a need to treat it as a final status, a translation may be configured with the help of SMS/Routing/Translation rules/Error and status codes interface. So ACCEPTD can be translated to DELIVERD, or some other status.

If a vendor claims that they are sending you delivery receipts, but this isn't reflected in the EDRs, you might check the traces to see whether the vendor is sending you deliver_sm and what status is being sent. Based off that, you may contact the vendor and decide what to do with these delivery statuses.
